Who you are hiring

One engineer, working directly with you from the first call to the findings walkthrough, with the assessment priced separately from any fix.

My background is Microsoft 365, Entra, Defender, Intune, Azure, firewalls, backups, and endpoint security across dozens of small-business tenants, as the engineer the hard tickets get escalated to.

I have been the person setting up a tenant. I know what it’s like to stand one up on a deadline, with the owner waiting for emails to work and three other tickets open, and to tell yourself you will come back and tighten it later. Then a second admin makes a change, a vendor adds an exclusion to get past a lockout, Microsoft moves a default, and a year later nobody has read the whole configuration end to end. The gaps are rarely exotic. They are things that most people don’t think to come back and check, but I do.

ValorOps exists because small businesses almost never get that end-to-end read. A managed services contract pays for keeping things running, and it should; an independent look at what has accumulated is a different job. The assessment is scoped, fixed-price, and separate from remediation, so the findings are a list you and your vendor can prioritize together, not a sales funnel.

Before that, I spent 10 years as a LAN administrator for the U.S. Navy submarine force. That is where the habits come from: follow the procedure, document everything, treat the quiet systems as the most vulnerable, and stay calm when something breaks.

How I work

  • Read-only, always. One Global Reader account you create and you revoke. No Global Administrator credentials, no shared logins, no changes during an assessment. You get written confirmation when access ends.
  • Findings a partner can read. Each one names the business risk in plain words, then the exact setting to change. Your IT vendor gets the detail; you get the page that matters.
  • Independent by design. Remediation is available, but it is a separate engagement at a published hourly rate, or your vendor's job. Because the assessment is priced on its own, it never recommends something because it is profitable to fix.
  • Client data stays yours. Configuration and policy are reviewed. File and message contents are not exported. Working data is destroyed within 30 days of delivery, with written confirmation on request.
  • Local. Ringgold, Georgia. On site in Chattanooga and North Georgia when you want a face; remote when you do not.

The business

ValorOps LLC is a Georgia single-member limited liability company, veteran-owned. Every engagement runs under a written master services agreement and statement of work with explicit authorization-to-assess language, a limitation of liability, and data handling terms. You will see all of it before anything is signed.

Technical writing, lab notes, and incident write-ups are published at valorops.dev. If you want to know how I think before you book a call, that is the place.

Twenty minutes, no pitch. We talk through your setup and I tell you what I would do.
